Louise Müller is a university lecturer/guest researcher at the Centre for the Arts in Society (LUCAS) at Leiden University and a senior research fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She serves as secretary of the Dutch OZSW research network in African Intercultural Philosophy. Dr. Müller holds a PhD and MSc in African Philosophy and Studies from the University of Edinburgh and studied African and Intercultural Philosophy and World History at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Leiden University. She previously worked at the African Studies Centre Leiden (ASCL) at Leiden University as a researcher and lecturer in African History and Philosophy and at Utrecht University in Media and Diaspora Studies. She has published the monograph ‘Religion and Chieftaincy in Ghana’ (Lit Verlag, 2013) and has written various book chapters and articles on African women philosophers, chieftaincy, African Cinema, ancient Egyptian and Greek philosophy of mind, ubuntu and sustainable development, and Akan art and philosophy. Dr. Müller reviews for several Africa-focused academic journals and is lead editor of the award-winning books ‘Beauty in African Thought: Critical Perspectives on the Western Idea of Development’ and ‘Well-Being in African Philosophy: Insights for a Global Ethics of Development’, both published in Bloomsbury’s Critical Perspectives and Global Dialogue series.
