Lucas Gronouwe

Lucas Gronouwe is a PhD candidate in philosophy at Texas A&M University (USA), following the successful completion of a BA and two MA programs in philosophy at Radboud University (The Netherlands). His research engages contemporary continental philosophy—particularly hermeneutics, critical theory, and deconstruction—while drawing on insights from science and technology studies, philosophies of the Global South, and literary theory. More specifically, he focuses on the contemporary reception of Hans-Georg Gadamer’s hermeneutics, especially in relation to debates on intercultural dialogue, new realisms and materialisms, and the legacies of critique. His dissertation, provisionally titled ‘Materializing Hermeneutics: For a Theory of Interpretation Beyond the Nature–Culture Divide,’ explores the tensions between contemporary material feminist and new realist approaches to hermeneutic experience and considers their implications for the role and responsibility of the interpreter.
