Is is written in Portuguese with contributions of colleagues from Latin America (texts in spanish). The authors were responsable for the introduction of this area of research in Brazil and shared efforts along with colleagues from Argentina and Mexico. Two biannual scientific meetings, the Brazilian Symposium on Chronobiology and the Latin American Symposium on Chronobiology have been created and are now in their 18th edition. Part of the book contains contributions of our students as well as other data which illustrate the history of our efforts in the implatation of a relatively recent area of knowledge. Although aimed at students and teachers of Biology in general, the book may be useful for those evantually interested in the field, particularly philosophers and historicists. Parts of the book may be shared upon demand.
