This paper explores the relationship between Stephen Stich's moral psychology and theory of mind. By analyzing the metaphysical foundations of his views on emotions and moral judgment, alongside his functionalist approach to mind that challenges dualistic perspectives, we argue that Stich's philosophy offers critical insights for both folk psychologists and elite philosophers. Specifically, we demonstrate how his work reveals the potential fallibility of intuitive moral reasoning and the importance of a more rigorous, empirically-grounded approach to understanding psychological and moral judgments.
