Maira de Cinque

Maira de Cinque is a Brazilian-Canadian philosopher, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at UCW and a Part-time Studies Instructor at BCIT. Her master’s research focused on logic, epistemology, and philosophy of language in Wittgenstein’s later work. Her doctoral thesis explored teleology and the history of humankind in Rousseau’s writings, bridging moral and political philosophy with the human search for meaning. Maira has been teaching philosophy since 2009, beginning with high school students. Since transitioning to post-secondary education in Canada, in 2020, she has taught at both public and private universities. Her student-centered approach emphasizes compassion and results-driven learning. Her research interests focus on morality and logic, reflecting her academic expertise. Outside of her academic life, she is a mother of two teenagers and loves spending time with family and friends.
