4“Por que é que a cultura não se tornou feminina?” Sobre o anti-feminismo de NietzscheCadernos Nietzsche 46 (3). 2025.The article discusses Nietzsche's critiques of women's emancipation movements by confronting them with his more general critiques of modern ideals of equality and autonomy. The discussion aims to determine whether, and to what extent, Nietzsche's anti-feminism may, despite its conservative character, contain a critical potential with regard to the manifestations of misogyny that continue to emerge throughout the world in our own time.

132Nietzsche on Instinct and Language (edited book)De Gruyter. 2011.The volume offers various considerations of Nietzsche s attempt to connect language to the instinctive activity of the human body. In focusing on how Nietzsche tries to dissolve the traditional opposition between instinct and language, as well as between instinct and consciousness and instinct and reason, the different papers address a great variety of topics, e.g. morality, value, the concept of philosophy, dogmatism, naturalization, metaphor, affectivity and emotion, health and sickness, trage…Read more

186Nietzsche and the Problem of Subjectivity (edited book)De Gruyter. 2015.Nietzsche's critique of the modern subject is often presented as a radical break with modern philosophy and associated with the so-called ‘death of the subject’ in 20th century philosophy. But Nietzsche claimed to be a ‘psychologist’ who was trying to open up the path for ‘new versions and sophistications of the soul hypothesis.’ Although there is no doubt that Nietzsche gave expression to a fundamental crisis of the modern conception of subjectivity, it is open to debate whether he wanted to ab…Read more

115As the Spider Spins: Essays on Nietzsche's Critique and Use of Language (edited book)De Gruyter. 2012.Nietzsche's metaphor of the spider that spins its cobweb expresses his critique of the metaphysical use of language - but it also suggests that ‟we, spiders‟, are able to spin different, life-affirming, healthier, non-metaphysical cobwebs. This book is a collection of 12 essays that focus not only on Nietzsche's critique of the metaphysical assumptions of language, but also on his effort to use language in a different way, i.e., to create a ‟new language‟. It is from this viewpoint that the book…Read more

4Nietzsche’s InspirationIn Duncan Large & Nicholas Martin (eds.), Nietzsche’s “Ecce Homo”, De Gruyter. pp. 313-334. 2020.In this essay the author discusses section 3 of Ecce Homo’s chapter on Thus Spoke Zarathustra, in which Nietzsche describes his experience of inspiration. The essay tries to clarify that same experience - usually attributed not to philosophers but to artists - by confronting Nietzsche’s text with Plato’s Ion in order to explore how Nietzsche’s description of inspiration is linked to his conception of destiny and, secondly, its key role in Nietzsche’s understanding of what philosophy is.
