My primary area of specialization is the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard. I'm particularly interested in Kierkegaard's epistemology and, in fact, have written a book on that subject: Ways of Knowing: Kierkegaard's Pluralist Epistemology (Baylor, 2010). I'm interested in religious epistemology more generally as well as in the philosophy of religion. I'm also interested in ancient philosophy and have a rudimentary command of Greek (which I studied under Mabel Lang at Bryn Mawr), as well as in the philosophy of sport with a particular emphasis on the existential experience of the athlete. This interest may not seem to fit so well with the others. In fact, the descriptions athletes give of the experience of being in what they call "the zone" are often identical to descriptions of mystical religious experiences. Finally, I'm very keenly interested in the philosophy of psychology, and because of the obvious relation, the philosophy of mind
