Mark Paterson has been conducting interdisciplinary research on the senses and sensory technologies for over two decades. He has written one of the most cited books on the subject of touch and technology, The Senses of Touch: Haptics, Affects and Technologies (Routledge, 2007). He is President of the ISA (International Sociological Association) Thematic Group 07 Senses and Society, and is a member of the ‘Science, Knowledge and Technology’ and Sociology of the Body and Embodiment' sections of the American Sociological Association (ASA).
