I am a Professor of Philosophy at West Virginia University. Until recently, I was also a researcher with the Lund-Gothenburg Responsibility Project at Lund University in Sweden.

My work on moral responsibility is focuses on the following topics: the relevance of personal history for present responsibility, the problem(s) of moral luck, the responsibility status of psychopaths, the significance for moral philosophy of psychological research on situational influences and attitude attribution, and the role that moral understanding and moral knowledge should play in our responsibility practices.
