Currently, I am an adjunct lecturer at the Goethe University Frankfurt and the University of Wuppertal.
My research focuses on theoretical philosophy, metaphilosophy, epistemology (theory of reason and rationality, perspectivism, relativism), metaepistemology (the use of ‘isms’ and labels in epistemology), conceptual and linguistic analyses (feature semantics, analysis vs. engineering, linguistic originalism and the etymological method), philosophy of science (paradigms, research programs, perspectival models), Kant, Fichte, Hegel and Nietzsche. I believe that philosophical investigations should start with metaphilosophical analyses and that rational autonomy is more important than side-taking in philosophy. I have argued for this view in my recent discussion with Timothy Williamson and plan to write a monograph on this topic. I co-edit the first general handbook in metaphilosophy (Springer/Metzler) and have established the Center for Metaphilosophical Research (CMPHR).
I have experience in leading two research groups, projects “Metaphilosophy and its Relevance for the Philosophical Practice” (Priority 2030) and “Perspectivism as an Epistemological Program” (RSCF) at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University Kaliningrad (2022-2023). I have also been the principal investigator in the project “How is Metaphilosophy Possible as a Unified Discipline?” (Fritz Thyssen Foundation) at the University of Koblenz and Landau (2021-2022) with research stays at the University of Oxford and the University of Pittsburgh.
After defending my doctorate thesis in September 2019 with support of the University of Wuppertal and my supervisors Alexander Schnell and Andreas Schmidt (University of Jena), with research stays in Bochum (RUB) and Madrid (UNED), I have followed the invitation of Nina Dmitrieva to join the Academia Kantiana and the Kantian Rationality Lab at the IKBFU Kaliningrad, where I have spent a part of my early post-doc phase.
