Michael Montess

Michael Montess is a Bioethicist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and an Assistant Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the Joint Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto. He was previously a Clinical Ethics Fellow with the Centre for Clinical Ethics at Unity Health Toronto and the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, a Postdoctoral Associate in the Rotman Institute of Philosophy and the School of Health Studies at Western University, and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Public Health and Social Policy at the University of Victoria. He has a PhD in Philosophy from York University and his dissertation was on the social and political dimensions of the ethics of HIV prevention. He is interested in topics related to public health ethics involving pandemics, including both COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS, as well as other topics in 2SLGBTQ+ health, mental health, applied ethics, bioethics, and social and political philosophy more broadly.
