Michał Sikorski

I am currently employed as a postdoctoral researcher at Marche Polytechnic University in Italy, working on a project devoted to controlling and utilizing uncertainty in the health sciences (https://cpsp.univpm.it/research/projects/cuuhs/). Previously, I held postdoctoral positions at the Warsaw University of Technology, where I contributed to a project on formalizing psychological theories within the conceptual spaces framework (https://projekty.ncn.gov.pl/opisy/470801-en.pdf), and at the University of Gdańsk, where I worked on forensic and judicial applications of probabilistic tools (https://projekty.ncn.gov.pl/opisy/342947-en.pdf). I obtained my Ph.D. as part of Jan Sprenger’s ERC-funded project Making Scientific Inferences More Objective (https://msio.wordpress.com/), initially based at Tilburg University and later relocated to the University of Turin.

My research focuses primarily on the philosophy of science, the philosophy of psychology, the philosophy of medicine, and, more recently, the philosophy of forensic science. In addition, I have worked on topics in the philosophy of language, including the semantics of indicative conditionals and the nature of aesthetic judgments. In the near future, I plan to extend my research to address the so-called “Theory Crisis,” with a focus on strategies for theory construction and assessment in the policy-relevant sciences.
