Il cherche à répondre à deux questions. La philosophie de l’événement, du processus ou du procès, d’Alfred North Whitehead (1861–1947) possède-t-elle, volens nolens, un fond gnostique syrien ? L’évangile apocryphe de Thomas, le gnostique juif qui a couché par écrit l’enseignement de Jésus probablement trente ans après son décès, offrant ainsi une source qui pourrait être plus ancienne que les évangiles canoniques et leur hypothétique texte-racine Q, gagne-t-il a être lu à partir de prémisses whiteheadiennes ? Michel Weber dirige le Centre de philosophie pratique « Chromatiques whiteheadiennes » à Bruxelles. Il a publié plus de cinquante ouvrages scientifiques, dont La Dialectique de l’intuition chez A. N. Thérapie psychocorporelle et massage ayurvédiques présente les fondements de cet art bifrons à l’aide d’une triple focale : Généraliste — introduire les enjeux de la thérapie psychocorporelle ayurvédique (au sens large Spécialiste — systématiser, à l’usage des thérapeutes, les outils théoriques et pratiques fondamentaux Didactique — servir de support aux formations que les auteurs organisent périodiquement Laureline Kergueris est doctorante en droit à l’Université Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne. Elle pratique et se forme en shiatsu et en massage ayurvédique depuis 2015. Michel Weber est professeur de philosophie à l’Université du Saskatchewan (Canada). Il a créé le cabinet ayurvédique Metabyanga en 2020.

(ISBN 978-2-930517-66-7, pdf 978-2-930517-67-4, 134 pp., 17€) S’il est impossible de nier la triple racine culturelle de l’Europe — romaine, grecque, et judéo-chrétienne —, on ne peut pour autant faire l’économie de son passé celtique et de la proximité que celui-ci atteste avec l’Inde. Philosopher, guérir et sanctifier sont les trois missions traditionnelles que les druides partagent avec les brahmanes ; elles furent aussi celles des philosophes pré-socratiques. Nos Dialogues sur la voie druidique constituent, à la fois, une introduction généraliste pour le profane et un outil analytique pour l’initié. On y évoque tout particulièrement l’enracinement historique et symbolique du druidisme contemporain et la fonction sacerdotale du druide. Frédéric Sanssens est théologien de formation et professeur de philosophie et de citoyenneté. Druide, il officie, entre autre, comme « formateur » des néophytes. Michel Weber est philosophe de formation, de profession, et d’inclination. Il pratique aussi la thérapie psychocorporelle ayurvédique.

Les études rassemblées ici peuvent se lire comme autant d’actualisations et de développements de l’argument arpenté dans mes derniers ouvrages de philosophie politique : De quelle révolution avons-nous besoin ? The second international 'Chromatiques whiteheadiennes' conference was devoted exclusively to the exegesis and contextualization of Whitehead's Science and the Modern World. In order to elucidate the meaning and significance of this epoch-making work, the Proceedings are designed to form a 'companion' volume. With one paper devoted to each of its thirteen chapters, the Proceedings aim, on the one hand, to identify the specific contribution of each chapter to Whitehead's own research program -- that is to say, to put its categories into perspective by means of an internal analysis -- and, on the other hand, to identify its global impact in the history of ideas.

Les 31 mai, 1er et 2 juin 2006, la Faculté de Théologie de l'Université catholique de Louvain a organisé, en collaboration avec le Centre de philosophie pratique Chromatiques whiteheadiennes, un colloque international consacré á la pensée d'Alfred North Whitehead. Les échanges ont privilégié les aspects les plus actuels d'une pensée apte á rencontrer les défis contemporains. Rejoindre l'actualité de Whitehead tant en science et en philosophie qu'en théologie suppose de pratiquer une interdisciplinarité qui est au coeur de ses intuitions. Le dialogue entre scientifiques, philosophes et théologiens a permis d'apporter des précisions importantes sur la manière whiteheadienne d'appréhender les sphères en interaction de la religion, de la science et de la politique.

"I do not expect a good reception from professional philosophers" wrote Whitehead in 1929, immediately after the publication of Process and Reality. Indeed, it took nearly thirty years before scholars seriously started to try to decipher the book taken as a whole. And there remains today "professional" Whiteheadians who claim that this work can - or even should - be bracketed by anyone wishing to get a clear picture of Whitehead's true speculative agenda. Creativity and Its Discontents aims to provide evidence of the conditions for this state of affairs by gathering and contextualizing all the major reviews (translated where need be) of Process and Reality: its original 1929 edition, its various translations (some of them still ongoing) and its 1978 corrected edition. It is designed as the ideal tool to accompany the recently published Handbook of Whiteheadian Process Thought.

There is one question that any potential reader who suspects that Alfred North Whitehead (1861-1947) might be important for past, contemporary, and future philosophy inevitably raises: how should I read Whitehead? How can I make sense of this incredibly dense tissue of imaginative systematizing, spread over decades of work in disciplines so different and specialized as algebra, geometry, logic, relativistic physics and philosophy of science? Accordingly, this monograph has two main complementary objectives. The first one is to propose a set of efficient hermeneutical tools to get the reader started. These straightforward tools provide answers that are highly coherent and probably the most applicable to Whitehead's entire corpus. The second objective is to illustrate how the several parts of Process and Reality are interconnected, something that all commentators have either failed to recognise or only incompletely acknowledged.

Whitehead's Pancreativism: The Basics has provided tools to understand Whitehead secundum Whitehead. We now seek to bring him in dialogue with James. It will be a pragmatic dialogue looking for two types of synergy: to establish the relevance of a Jamesian background to read Whitehead, and to adumbrate how Whitehead can help us understand the stakes of James's works. After one hundred years of scholarship, it appears that James's legacy has mainly been studied from the perspective of his own blend of pragmatism and that this blend has moreover chiefly been put into dialogue with Peirce and analytic philosophy at large. This double interpretational shift has allowed James to keep a fair amount of visibility on the academic scene but, over the years, it has significantly obliterated his vision. It is time to rediscover James from the perspective of his radical empiricism.

This volume celebrates the life achievements of Jason W. Brown, who, along with Jean Piaget, Heinz Werner, Alexander Luria and the Wurzburg school, has significantly contributed to the development of a process-based theory of brain/mind capable of challenging the currently fashionable modularist or cybernetic approaches to understanding human thought and feeling. As a paradigm, Brown's microgenetic theory is thus applicable in both brain science (where Brown was inspired by the pioneering work of Schilder and Pick) and the philosophy of mind (where the influence of Bergson, Whitehead, Cassirer, and Merleau-Ponty can be seen). Essays with a range of focus as wide as Brown's expertise have been collected in such diverse areas as neuropsychology (microstructure of action, symptomatology, neuro-rehabilitation, neurolinguistics, locationism), theoretical psychology (consciousness, hypnosis, morphogenesis, personality development, psychoanalysis, Buddhist psychology, mysticism), and philosophy of mind (evolutionary epistemology, emergence/novelty/creativity, subjectivity, will and action, Whiteheadian process philosophy)."

Michel Weber, Éléments de routine ayurvédique. Autonomie, rituel et ascèse, Les Éditions Chromatika, 2021. (978-2-930517-82-7 ; pdf 978-2-930517-83-4 ; 104 pp., 14€) L’Ayurvéda propose une philosophie de vie qui articule un vaste système métaphysique (une cosmologie théorique) avec une visée thérapeutique profonde (une anthropologie pratique). À la croisée de la théorie et de la pratique, on trouve la routine (« dinacharya ») dont le but est de susciter l’individuation et la solidarité, c’est-à-dire l’autonomie (de chacun) respectueuse de la communauté (de tous). Ce faisant, elle constitue une ascèse dont l’efficacité a été longuement éprouvée et rarement égalée.

Michel Weber, Petite philosophie de l’Art Royal. Analyse de l’alchimie franc-maçonne, 2015. (ISBN 978-2-930517-48-3, 312 pp., 20 €) On propose ici une ellipse philosophique définie par les deux foyers de l’Art Royal : l’Alchimie et la Franc-Maçonnerie. Ces trois territoires seront de plus recoupés par la psychologie analytique de Jung. Au nombre de nos conclusions, on trouve les thèses suivantes : primo, le Philosophe est l’héritier d’une tradition ascétique et gnostique ; secundo, l’Adepte n’a rien du chercheur d’or et tout du mystique travaillant à sa propre transfiguration ; tertio, l’Initié peut se réclamer de cette filiation philosophico-alchimique qui traverse les œuvres de Pythagore, Platon et Albert le Grand ; quarto, l’Analyste endosse, avec les contradictions qui sont propres à une discipline toujours en quête de notoriété scientifique, ce même héritage. « Out of the mist of the beginning of our era there looms a pageant of mythical figures whose vast, superhuman contours might people the walls and ceiling of another Sistine Chapel. » (H. Jonas) The purpose of this book is to show how far a philosophical cross-elucidation of Alchemy, Freemasonry and Jungian Analysis is possible. Amongst its conclusions are the following theses : Philosophy is, in its core, ascetic and gnostic ; Alchemy does not have much to do with gold but with the quest toward transfiguration ; Freemasonry has built upon this philosophico-alchemical legacy ; Jungian Analysis fosters, in a more mundane context, this very same ideal. Michel Weber, Covid-19(84) ou La vérité (politique) du mensonge sanitaire : le fascisme numérique, Louvain-la-Neuve, Éditions Chromatika, 2020. 978-2-930517-68-1, pdf 978-2-930517-69-8, 226 pp., 20 € La crise de la Covid-19 n’est pas sanitaire, mais politique, et aucune des mesures liberticides n’est fondée scientifiquement ; par contre, la Covid-19 rend évidente la corruption complète du corps politique et de ses appendices médiatiques et scientifiques. Cette corruption reflète la crise du capitalisme financier, et la volonté des oligarques de détruire la démocratie représentative. Le système politique qui se met en place est bien totalitaire, c’est-à-dire que toutes les facettes de la vie des citoyens seront pilotées par une structure idéologique mortifère ne différenciant plus les sphères privées et publiques. Ce totalitarisme sera fasciste, sanitaire et numérique.

Jean-Claude Dumoncel et Michel Weber, Whitehead ou Le Cosmos torrentiel. Introductions à Procès et réalité, Louvain-la-Neuve, Les Éditions Chromatika, 2010. (978-2-930517-05-6 ; 193 p. ; 20 € ; ) Les études whiteheadiennes françaises — et tout particulièrement la diffusion et l’interprétation de Process and Reality (1929) — ont beaucoup souffert de l’absence d’introductions globales et systématiques évitant à la fois le jargon et les interprétations de l’auteur à partir d’un point de vue qui lui est étranger. La présente duographie vise à combler ce vide. Les deux études qui la composent, dont l’une devait trouver un écho dans Le Pli (1988) de Deleuze, cherchent à extraire la vision whiteheadienne de l'expérience, intégralement comprise. Jean-Claude Dumoncel enseigne la logique et la philosophie de la nature à Caen. Before philosophy, time was not problematized, it was a pure common-sensical matter. There were various experiences of time, and, accordingly, different words to name it. Whitehead’s solution of the temporal conundrum lies in the concept of “creative advance of nature” that is systematically elucidated only in Process and Reality (1929) To understand the creative advance of nature, one needs to interpret the togetherness of its three aspects —creativity qua concrescence, efficacy qua transition, vision qua initial subjective aim—, and this provides us with the core meaning of time: (i) genuine novelty appears in the World, (ii) past events are, so to speak, ontologically memorized, and (iii) there is an upward trend in terms of “intensity” of events. These three complementary requirements refresh in their own way the Greek triple understanding of time: time is “aiôn,” lived duration (outside physical time) and destiny, but it is also “chronos,” causal time, and “kairos,” timeliness or the appropriate moment for action. Michel Weber is Director of the Centre for Philosophical Practice (Brussels) and Adjunct Professor at the Department of Educational Foundations of the University of Saskatchewan. His current research program mainly addresses the Ayurvedic understanding of the anchoring of the mind in the body and of the expression of the body in the mind.

Il requiert que la philosophie soit une discipline vécue afin qu'elle puisse demeurer une discipline vivante. Quel posture socio-politique suggère-t-il ? Le concept d’anarchie permet de nommer à la fois l’état présent du monde globalisé (le « chaos constructif » voulu par le néolibéralisme) et la réponse qui s’impose : le communautarisme libertaire, c’est-à-dire la redynamisation de la démocratie participative. Or, le monde de l’éducation se situe précisément en ce point de bifurcation : ou bien il succombe aux assauts du marché et nous nous dirigeons vers la barbarie ; ou bien il résiste et la Vie reprend ses droits. The philosophical ideal embodied by the life and works of Alfred North Whitehead (1861–1947) is, more than ever, a burning question. It requires that philosophy be a lived discipline so that it can remain a living discipline. What does this ideal entail in the socio-political sphere? The concept of anarchy allows a straightforward discussion of both the current state of affairs in a globalized world (the “constructive chaos” fostered by neoliberalism) and the necessary reaction : libertarian communautarism, which constitutes a re-energization of participative democracy. Now, the world of education lies precisely at that bifurcation point. Either it gives way beneath the attacks of the “market” and we are heading towards barbary; or it resists and Life regains its rights.

(978-2-930517-08-7 ; 378 p. ; 40 € ; ) Drawing upon the major Harvard works —Science and the Modern World (1925), Process and Reality (1929) and Adventures of Ideas (1933)—, the essays gathered here on the occasion of the creation of the Applied Process Metaphysics Summer Institute, seek, first, to introduce into Whitehead’s thought by clarifying what is at stake in his philosophy and by providing a synoptic vision of his key categories in light of their historical development and, second, to foster a creative dialogue among all participants. These essays give the opportunity to travel through most aspects of Whitehead’s legacy: anthropology, ecology, education, epistemology, metaphysics, psychology, political theory and relativity physics. Ronny Desmet holds an M.A. in mathematics (1983), an M.A. and a Ph.D. in philosophy (2005 and 2010). He is currently research assistant at the Centre of Logic and Philosophy of Science, Free University of Brussels. His research and publications have focused on Whitehead’s philosophy of mathematics and relativity. Michel Weber holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in philosophy (1991 and 1997). Paul Stenner and Michel Weber (eds.), Orpheus’ Glance. Selected papers on process psychology. The Fontarèches meetings, 2002–2017, Louvain-la-Neuve, Éditions Chromatika, 2018 (ISBN 978-2-930517-54-4, ISBN PDF, 326 pp., 30€). The Whitehead Psychology Nexus is an international open forum dedicated to the cross-examination of Alfred North Whitehead’s “organic” or “process” philosophy and the various facets of the contemporary psychological field of research and debate. It seeks to mutually inform psychology and Whitehead scholarship by encouraging psychologists to research in a Whiteheadian atmosphere and Whitehead scholars to engage with psychology. Bold speculations balanced by “complete humility before logic, and before fact” (Process and Reality, 1929, corr. ed., p. 17) are especially valued. The WPN Workshops were launched in 2002 in Fontarèches (France). The provocative papers gathered here are of two kinds: on the one hand, philosophical discussions of the present state of affairs in psychology lato sensu; and, on the other hand, critical studies of the relevance of the imaginative generalizations of Whitehead for psychology and of the impact of contemporary psychology on Whitehead’s system of thought.
