53Auras in mysticism and synaesthesia: A comparisonConsciousness and Cognition 21 (1): 258-268. 2012.In a variety of synaesthesia, photisms result from affect-laden stimuli as emotional words, or faces of familiar people. For R, who participated in this study, the sight of a familiar person triggers a mental image of "a human silhouette filled with colour". Subjective descriptions of synaesthetic experiences induced by the visual perception of people's figures and faces show similarities with the reports of those who claim to possess the ability to see the aura. It has been proposed that the pu…Read more

A fine-grained parallel approach for the registration areas optimizationLogic Journal of the IGPL 25 (6): 862-876. 2017.Mobility management is one of the most important operations in any public land mobile network. For idle terminals, most of mobility management strategies consist of two main procedures: subscriber’s location update and paging. These two procedures define a multiobjective optimization problem in which the challenge is to find the network configurations that minimize the number of location updates and the number of paging messages. In this optimization process, the use of accurate information is v…Read more

3The European hummingbird hawkmoth Macroglossum stellatarum is a diurnal nectar forager like the honeybee, and we expect similarities in their sensory ecology. Using behavioural tests and electroretinograms, we studied the spectral sensitivity of M. stellatarum. By measuring ERGs in the dark-adapted eye and after adaptation to green light, we determined that M. stellatarum has ultraviolet, blue and green receptors maximally sensitive at 349, 440 and 521 nm, and confirmed that green receptors are …Read more

25Solving the reporting cells problem by using a parallel team of evolutionary algorithmsLogic Journal of the IGPL 20 (4): 722-731. 2012.In this work, we present a new approach to solve the location management problem by using the reporting cells strategy. Location management is a very important and complex problem in mobile computing which aims to minimize the costs involved. In the reporting cells location management scheme, some cells in the network are designated as reporting cells . The choice of these cells is not trivial because they affect directly to the cost of the mobile network. This article is focused on the use of h…Read more

9A cross-national study of corporate governance and employment contractsBusiness Ethics: A European Review 17 (3): 259-284. 2008.Corporate governance (CG) can be seen to operate through a ‘double agency’ relationship: one between the shareholders and corporate management, and another between the corporate management and the firm's employees. The CG and labour management of firms are closely related. A particularly productive way to study how CG affects and is affected by the employment relationship has been to compare CG across countries. The contributions of this paper to that literature are threefold. (1) An integration…Read more
