This study determines the preferable leadership practised by colleges’ directors, institutional factors and challenges encountered in knowledge sharing in Malaysian technical higher learning institutions (HLIs). Using a pragmatic mixed-method strand, we obtained 212 teachers and instructors’ viewpoints on knowledge sharing factors and barriers. The study also interviewed four teachers in exploring college directors’ leadership practices and issues faced while sharing their knowledge and experiences with their colleagues. The findings revealed that technical college teachers favoured enabling others to act as a preferable leadership practice that empirically supports their knowledge sharing practices. Thus, reward system and culture were antecedents and significant predictors for teachers’ knowledge sharing practices in technical HLIs compared with their colleges directors’ transformational leadership practices. Teachers also highlighted that their directors provide affirmative responses concerning the knowledge sharing activities; thus, practising their roles as a knowledge sharing catalysts. However, lack of support from the management, micro-politics and teachers’ own negative perceptions were identified as challenges and constraints teachers encountered while sharing their knowledge with their peers. The findings put forward some suggestions for improvement on technical college’s knowledge sharing practices.

The dwelling house is part of the basic needs of human life. In Islam, the designation of a place as a dwelling house has its importance. The dwelling house is not only seen as a sanctuary for oneself and his property, but it is also significant in providing space for privacy. This paper aims to discuss privacy related to a dwelling house in Islamic jurisprudence. The discussion will focus on the importance of the privacy rules for a dwelling house to guide the parties involved in housing development. The type of research is qualitative with a socio-historical approach. The results indicate that Islam provides a balance between social life and the need to be alone. The principles of privacy for a dwelling house not only show the security of shariah objectives, but they also guide the construction industry with divine guidance in sustainable human development.

Student learning time is learning hours set/prescribed for a course that consists of hours for learning activities in the classroom and also learning outside the class hour. SLT is to be met to fulfill one of the requirements for accreditation by the Malaysian Qualification Agency. A survey by circulating questionnaires was conducted at UiTM Perlis Branch involving 50 first-semester students from various faculties. The purpose of the study is to identify the effectiveness of the use of SLT for course code CTU101. This study found that 100% of the respondents can fulfill hours of face-to-face learning in accordance with the provisions of the course, but 56% of the respondents were not able to use non-face-to-face learning hours by a predetermined amount. This happened because students had no specific plans and were unable to discipline themselves to comply with the implementation of SLT. One hundred percent of the students agreed that SLT or non-F2F learning hours would be better if they were guided and monitored directly by the lecturers. Therefore, the researchers would like to recommend a guidance book called PSK Smart Kit to facilitate the lecturers provide guidance and monitor the use of SLT for the students.
