  • Catholic Social Thought, Politics and Human Dignity in the Brazilian Constitutional Assembly of 1987-1988
    American Journal of Legal History 59 (1): 111-140. 2019.
This paper unveils a distinctive tradition of political thought on human dignity in 20th-century Latin America, exploring how its development was informed by liberation theology and grassroots struggles against Brazil’s civil-military dictatorship. It argues that its development prompted and informed dignity’s inclusion in Brazil's current democratic constitution and discusses implications for law.
