I am a Lecturer in Philosophy at Smith College. I'm interested in the philosophy of language and mind. My current research focuses on the semantics and pragmatics of socially meaningful language, including sociolinguistic variation, slang, register, honorifics, and nicknames. I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy from Columbia University, and before that I completed an M.Phil in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge and a B.A. in Philosophy at Williams College.
