The article examines the problem of occupational burnout among clergy of the Polish Catholic Mission in Germany, situating it within the broader context of psychological and sociological research on helping professions, as well as theological and pastoral reflection. Drawing on literature and empirical studies, the paper highlights the multidimensional nature of burnout: from classical psychological factors (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced sense of accomplishment), through organizational and institutional conditions (excessive workload, unclear role boundaries, administrative burdens), to migration-specific challenges (geographical dispersion of communities, feelings of isolation, dual loyalty to the Polish and German Churches). The discussion also covers protective factors such as spirituality, commu-nity support, training, and supervision, as well as preventive strategies based on the Job Demands-Resources Model and practical Christology. The article argues that an integrative approach that combines spiritual, psychological, and organizational dimensions is essential for preventing burnout and sustaining pastoral ministry in multicultural and migratory contexts.

Apatheism, a unique attitude of indifference to religion and the question of God’s existence, is becoming increasingly prominent in the context of contemporary socio-cultural changes, particularly among younger generations. This article comprehensively analyzes apatheism, exploring its origins, distinct characteristics, and evolution in the face of escalating secularization. Drawing on research and theory, including the concepts of Robert J. Nash and Jonathan Rauch, the authors present various perspectives on apatheism, highlighting its unique aspects and contrasting them with other non-theistic attitudes such as atheism, agnosticism, and secularism. The article delves into the social and cultural contexts of apatheism and its potential implications for the future of religion in society, as well as the challenges and needs it raises. The study aims to demonstrate how apatheism aligns with the broader landscape of contemporary social change and its potential influence on future forms of religiosity and spirituality. The concluding remarks offer insight into how to think practically and theologically about apatheism so that pastoral offerings have a chance to meet the challenge.

The monograph Threats to Democracy: Nationalism, Populism, Extremism and Christianity’s Response to Them, edited by Patryk Zając and Maciej Ostrowski, presents an interdisciplinary approach to the current crisis of democracy, emphasizing the religious context of socio-political tensions. Inspired by an international academic project, the book brings together contributions from young scholars and professors across Europe. It is divided into four parts: the discussion framework (including an interview with Tomáš Halík), the socio-political perspective (e.g., populism, nationalism, extremism), the philosophical perspective, and the theological perspective. A central concern shared by all chapters is whether Christianity - especially Catholicism - can not only respond to threats to democracy but also provide resources for its renewal. The volume also introduces the innovative “Herdorf Method,” a seminar-based pedagogical practice that models democratic dialogue within a Christian framework.
