I specialise in ethics broadly conceived to include themes in the history of ethics (I particularly like Aristotle, Spinoza, Hegel and Kant), the intersection of ethics and philosophy of mind (moral psychology, motivation, practical rationality and the emotions) and issues related to human evil and the ethics of forgiveness. My current research develops a Kantian approach to forgiveness, exploring the relationship between forgiveness, moral development, memory, justice and self-respect.
