Peter Koch

I am a Professor of Philosophy with a primary focus on ethics and politics in medicine. I draw upon my training as a philosopher and my experience as a Clinical Ethics consultant to engage with healthcare professionals, scholars, and the broader public in developing actionable solutions to important practical and philosophical challenges. These challenges include the balance between ethics and law in healthcare, the categorization of ethical issues in medicine, and the navigation of conflicting moral, political, and professional obligations. I speak on and teach courses related to these themes, including "Anarchism in Medicine," "Ethics for Health Care Professionals," "Law, Morality & Authority," and "Death, Disease, & Disability." My publications appear in many top academic journals, such as the American Journal of Bioethics, the Journal of Medical Ethics, the Journal of Law, Medicine, and Ethics, the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy, and others.
