The main objective of this research is to bring together some philosophers (theoretical worlds): Martin Heidegger, Emanuele Severino, Gilles Deleuze, and Giorgio Agamben. The authors examined in this study share the idea that, beyond any form of abstract, isolating, and representational thought, there exists an original space of relation and indistinction—a space that serves as the matrix of all meaning. The forms of metaphysical thought distance us from this theoretical dimension, but through an original ontology—defined by reading Heidegger and Severino—we may once again reach the profound essence of all intellectual effort. This approach brings these two authors closer to poststructuralist thought and reveals a deep connection among them, through the critiques that all four philosophers direct toward metaphysics.

This article aims to highlight the importance of the notion of original synthesis in Severino’s thought, with a particular focus on two texts: Ritornare a Parmenide (1964) and the related Poscritto (1965), whose 6oth anniversary falls this year. Some of the main themes developed by Severino in the two texts mentioned above will be considered, to show how this fundamental notion is repeat edly referred to in them, to such an extent that it can be seen as the cornerstone of Severino’s entire ontological proposal. The contrast between ontology and metaphysics therefore plays out precisely on the recognition of the value of synthesis: on the one hand, the thought of the truth of being recognizes an essential element in the original synthesis; on the other hand, the alienated and isolating thought of metaphysics does not recognize that value and therefore surrenders itself to alienation from the profound meaning of the truth of being

The following paper aims to outline the relations between ontology and technique in Gianni Vattimo and Emanuele Severino, to indicate the contribution that these two thinkers leave to future philosophy. Vattimo and Severino, two protagonists of contemporary Italian philosophy, offer two totally different ontological accounts. On the one hand, an ontology characterized by the ‘historical nature’ of being and the critique of the traditional notion of truth; on the other, the exposition of the ‘original structure’, whose foundation is the eternity of being as such and which implies the radical critique of the western civilization, which results alienated. The ontological accounts of both philosophers are closely linked to their philosophy of technique and their reflection on the role of politics in technique civilization. Such research can offer important inspiration for thought to understand our world and its future.

Con quest’articolo si intende definire la questione del rapporto tra matematica e filosofia all’interno del pensiero del filosofo italiano Emanuele Severino. Il lavoro si articola in tre parti. La prima intende mostrare il delinearsi storico-concettuale della scienza e della matematica contemporanea, alla luce dell’evento che Severino definisce «tramonto dell’epistéme». La seconda mostra un caso particolare, quello di Giacomo Leopardi, nella cui produzione poetica e filosofica si intrecciano il tema della matematica, dell’analisi, del nulla e dell’impossibilità di ogni potenza. La terza e ultima parte intende mettere in relazione alcune nozioni matematiche e il «linguaggio che testimonia il destino della verità». L’intero contributo ha una duplice finalità: da un lato, mostrare che il rapporto tra filosofia è matematica può essere spiegato alla luce della nozione di isolamento dalla verità, sia da una prospettiva storico-concettuale (prima e seconda parte dell’articolo), sia da una prospettiva teorica (terza parte); dall’altro, si tenta di sottolineare le ragioni di rilevanza e attualità della proposta filosofica severiniana all’interno del contesto teorico contemporaneo.

The present analysis investigates the presence and importance of tragedy and nihilism in the thought of the Italian philosopher Emanuele Severino (1929-2020). In the first part of the article Severino’s perspective on nihilism is described. This is presented as the essence of the West and consists in the radical alienation of the truth of being. The second part analyses the role played by tragedy (namely Aeschylus’ Orestia, which is here mentioned from Severino’s translation), recognizing the link between the theatre (θέατρον) and the contemplation of truth (θεωρία). The third and last part makes visible the connection described by Severino between the tragic thought of Aeschylus, the poetry of Giacomo Leopardi and the question of technique. The aim of the article is also to show the importance of a perspective that, through the philosophy, can look at human knowledge as a concrete whole, rather than an abstract juxtaposition of abstractly separate disciplines.
