In 2016 I have been nominated among the final 5 candidates (out of 800 initial nominees) for the Teaching Excellence Award of the University of Basel in the category "Top Aktuell" for my proseminar on the Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence.
In my doctoral research - published as "The Natural Problem of Consciousness" (De Gruyter 2017) - I have been working on the question of whether conscious experience, intended as ontologically subjective biological phenomenon, can contribute to the biological fitness of an organism.
During my doctoral studies I have been guest researcher at the Institut für Philosophie II of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum under the supervision of Prof. Albert Newen (autumn 2012), visiting scholar at the Philosophy Department of Duke University under the supervision of Prof. Karen Neander (February 2014), and visiting student at the Philosophy Department of New York University under the supervision of Prof. Ned Block (spring 2014).
