Raja Bahlul

• I completed my undergraduate studies in Philosophy and English at the American University in Beirut in 1975. For my graduate studies in Philosophy attended Indiana University, Bloomington, where I finished my PhD in Philosophy in 1983, writing a dissertation on Leibniz and the Identity of Indiscernibles. • I have taught at many universities, including IUPUI, Indiana, Yarmouk University (Jordan), Birzeit University (Palestine) (where I helped found the MA Program in Democracy and Human Rights), United Arab Emirates University (where I was Chair of the Philosophy Dept. from 2005 to 2008), and Qatar University (2014-2015). I am currently Head of the Philosophy Program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and Editor-in-Chief of Tabayyun, published by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies. • I have publications in Arabic and English (with some translated into Italian) in the areas of Metaphysics (Identity of Indiscernibles, Universals), Islamic Philosophy and Theology (Ghazali, Avicenna, Islamic Kalam), Philosophy of Emotion, Democracy and Women’s Rights, and Contemporary Islamic Political Thought. • Forthcoming publications include: "Skepticism about Other Minds," "Wittgenstein and Logical Behaviorism," "Modest Universalism about Human Rights," "al-Razi's Cognitive Therapy," and "Democracy and Popular Sovereignty."
