My primary philosophical project concerns issues relating to social roles (e.g. spouse, doctor, citizen) and institutions (e.g. marriage, healthcare system, government). When I began this project, I was primarily interested in the intersection of roles and metaethics, and while I continue to explore that area, my interests have expanded to include questions regarding roles and institutions in normative ethics, social and political philosophy, and social ontology. I also actively research emotions, free will/moral responsibility, and Nietzsche, and there are several points of contact between these interests and my work on roles and institutions.
