My PhD is in Philosophy from Egenis, the centre for the study of life sciences, at the University of Exeter with focus on philosophy of mind/philosophy of cognitive science. My thesis took a coordinated systems approach to 4E cognition. Emerging from this work was the realisation that many interesting cases of cognition are actually stigmergic - meaning that the results of actions of the system in the world coordinate further actions of the system.

Recent strands to my work include minimal cognition in non-neuronal organisms, social insects, and group cognition and social ontology including applications in philosophy of science.
