I am primarily interested why there are so many different philosophies. Some outside the subject, in disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and economics take this state of affairs to indicate that philosophy provides the border between science(or social science) and mere opinion. This is partly due to its lack of an agreed upon (scientific) method. Instead, to put it bluntly, it is essentially the place where arguers and dogmatists meet, then talk past each other.
