Roxanne Burton, a Jamaican, is a Lecturer in Philosophy at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. She has taught a variety of courses at The UWI, Cave Hill, including Philosophy and Gender, Environmental Ethics, Biomedical Ethics, Philosophy of Sex and Love, Philosophy of Education, and Philosophy of Mind.
She has co-authored two edited texts with F. Ochieng’-Odhiambo and Ed Brandon, and has several published journal articles and book chapters.

Her research interests include Caribbean philosophy and its intersections with African philosophy; ethics; social philosophy; and feminist philosophy. She is currently doing research on personal identity development, especially in the Afro-Caribbean context, using a theory of personal identity (the Integrated Theory of Personal Identity – ITPI) that she developed, and the linkages between romantic relationships, monogamy and the use of cell phones and social media.
