I’m a philosopher working on how people assess claims, correct errors, and sustain responsible inquiry within the institutions and technologies they use. At present, I serve as an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Galen College. I hold a PhD in philosophy from the University of Kansas and an EdD in higher education leadership from Maryville University. I welcome conversations with researchers working on pragmatism, AI and media ethics, institutional answerability, and archival provenance.
My research connects social and political philosophy, social epistemology, American pragmatism, and philosophy of media and technology. I’m particularly interested in the conditions that make verification and correction possible: access to evidence, the history of a record, and the authority to act when a claim or decision needs to change.
My areas of competence are moral psychology, critical thinking, and ethics.
My book, Pragmatism for a Post-Objective World: Honest Deception, is under contract with Bloomsbury Academic and will appear in the John J. Kaag American Philosophy series. With Gordon Albert Babst and Renee Souris, I am also currently co-editing Institutions and Virtues Necessary for Democracy, a volume under contract with Springer, and associated with the American Association of Legal and Social Philosophy.
Other recent work includes Corrective Capacity and Institutional Support: A Reply to Floridi, published in Philosophy & Technology, 39, Article 184 (2026). With Briana J. Christensen, I’m working on AI governance and the cultural role of synthetic historical records. Our chapters include Beyond the Illusion of Ethics (2026) and The Synthetic Record in the Affective Public (under contract with Anthem Press).
