I am a visiting assistant research fellow at the University of Notre Dame. I work on various topics in ethics and aesthetics. I'm presently writing about the role of the imagination in moral thought, the relationship between conceptual loss and what I call "conceptual retrieval," the moral promises and problems with aesthetic representations of suffering, and what it might mean to say that beauty is transcendent. I address these topics by thinking alongside various figures in the history of philosophy, particularly Iris Murdoch and Simone Weil. One day I'd like to write about Marcel Proust.
