Read moreThe guiding thread, from the beginning to the end of this work, is the will of the author to explain as clearly as possible the main points that anchors its belief that the polysemic word ethos, in addition the ideas conveyed by its use, designates a very specific relation (a relation of continuous reciprocal molding between a place and the physical and psychic life of its inhabitants); a natural relation, that offers as much openings as establish narrow limits in any of its terms. From this perspective, present itself some theorizations about the human developing, in the individual and collective plane, and about the peculiarities of our interactions with the environment. It is argued, therefore, that the notion of ethos can constitute a heuristic cutout in the field of the human and social sciences. As final words, some considerations are added about ethos in the contemporary world and about its possible future.
