I am a senior researcher (Oberassistent) in ZEGRa at the University of Zurich and a research associate at ACEPS at the University of Johannesburg. I work at issues on the intersection of epistemology and ethics.
In my project on relational epistemology, I develop a new social conception of epistemic normativity. Before coming to Zurich, I finished my PhD on responsibility for attitudes at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. I am author of Responsibility for Rationality (Routledge, 2025) and editor of The Ethics of Belief and Beyond (Routledge, 2020) and Beyond Evidence in Epistemology (Philosophical Topics, 2023). My current interests in epistemology are on our epistemic interdependence (in particular epistemic accountability), human fallibility (in particular higher-order evidence), and misleading epistemic environments (in particular conspiracy theories in contexts of oppression).
Other systematic interests include philosophical methodology, the value of philosophy in a good life, animal minds, animal ethics, as well as moral psychology (identity, self, agency). My main historical interests are ancient Greek philosophy (esp. Plato, Aristotle, Pyrrhonism), African philosophy, modern epistemology in the wake of Descartes, and Wittgenstein.
