Barry Allen’s criticism of the traditional definition of knowledge seems to share a radical tone with Stephan Vogel’s concerns about the customary representation of the causes that lie behind our current environmental problems. Both philosophers voice their complaints about the Cartesian picture of the world and dismiss the core idea behind the notorious duality embedded in that picture. What they propose instead is a monistic perspective positing an artifactual networking. In this paper, I will try to draw attention to certain weak aspects of Allen’s refreshing description of knowledge as “superlative artifactual performance” and offer a way to improve that characterization via Vogel’s notion “wildness”. More specifically, I will propose a solution to the problems pertaining to the distinction between good and bad artifacts with respect to the epistemic criteria proposed by Allen, and claim that the temporal gap standing in between the expectations of a designer and the qualities of her design may contribute to our understanding of the nature of an artifact. I maintain that each creative attempt to know a given artifact is to be appreciated by recognizing its different uses. In doing so, I will also try to show why and how certain bad artifacts get their undesirable status because of leading up to techno-cultural stagnation.

This article explores the possibility of a logical analysis for the inquiries underlying the process of discovery. In other words, it aims to offer a simple and generalizable explanation of how interrogative processes that result in the acquisition of new knowledge operate. While primarily applicable to scientific inquiries, the proposed explanation aims to provide a model for all actions that can be considered creative acts of acquiring knowledge. My main sources for this project will be J. Hintikka's interrogative logic and M. Koralus and S. Mascarenhas's erotetic theory of reasoning. In the second half of this article, I will offer an explanation based on our ability to answer questions about how the human mind works. To clarify this ability, I will propose an ontology of questions that will allow questions to be framed appropriately so that they can meet an answer. Önerilen açıklama, öncelikle bilimsel sorgulamalara uygulanabilir olmakla birlikte, yaratıcı bilgi edinim eylemleri olarak değerlendirilebilecek tüm eylemler için bir model sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu proje için ana kaynaklarım J. Hintikka'nın sorgulayıcı mantığı ve M. Koralus ile S. Mascarenhas'ın erotetik akıl yürütme teorisi olacaktır. Makalenin ikinci yarısında, insan zihninin nasıl çalıştığına dair soruları cevaplama yeteneğimize dayanan bir açıklama sunacağım. Bu yeteneği açıklığa kavuşturabilmek için ise soruların uygun şekilde çerçevelenmesine ve böylece bir cevaba ulaşmasına olanak sağlayacak bir soru ontolojisi önereceğim.
