As the world grapples with an escalating ecological crisis, there is a growing realization of the need to rethink the very relation between humankind and the natural environment. This paper explores how Mahatma Gandhi's ecological thought meets the philosophy of deep ecology and how these together might inform more holistic approaches to sustainable development. Gandhi's philosophical framework, which is founded upon principles of nonviolence, simplicity, and a decentralized approach to community organization, presaged numerous fundamental aspects of the deep ecology movement. Both ideologies contest anthropocentrism and promote an ecocentric perspective that acknowledges the intrinsic value of all living entities. The research also explores the similarity between the concept of Gandhi's "swaraj"-(self-rule) and the idea within deep ecology about self-realization, wherein a person's sense of identity is expanded to include all of nature. By examining a selection of Gandhi's written works in relation to academic scholarship on deep ecology, this paper discusses how a synthesis of these philosophies can enhance the development of more equitable and ecologically sensitive policies. This paper, therefore, explores how Gandhian principles and deep ecology can also help develop sustainable practices that prioritize ecological concerns and equity principles. The study also critically examines the challenges and limitations inherent in synthesizing Gandhi's philosophy with deeper and more radical aspects of the movement of deep ecology. In conclusion, this study adds to the continuing conversation regarding the significance of traditional ecological knowledge in mitigating the current environmental crisis.

This paper expounds a philosophical approach aimed at the reconsideration of the relationship of human beings to nature, via Naess, who remains one of the interlocutors in the field of environmental ethics and founder of Deep Ecology. The tortuous pathway human-nature relations communication is explained, showing how ancient civilizations, Greeks included, recognised nature with respect and understood it as a harmonious and interrelated order. Yet with the emergence of Cartesian dualism at the dawn of modernity, nature becomes objectified, which piles on a utilitarian view concealing anthropocentrism. This droves humankind farther away from nature. Underlying this change, which created a context in which the present fraying exists, was industrialization itself, along with the relevant technological advance and the final commodification of nature, with a utilitarian orientation where human interests took precedent over ecological integrity. This disconnect is the reason for putting together a paper with a philosophical and practical reorientation around Naess’s deep ecology. His ideas of “Self-realization,” “Biocentric Equality,” and “Ecological Wisdom” show ways forward for rebalancing things by letting people understand that they aren’t special compared to other beings in nature. People can only act to solve ecological degradation and fulfil existentially by adopting Naess’s ecocentric vision with a rebirth for an understanding of where they belong within the web we call life. More importantly, this research emphasizes how Naess’s deep ecological approach opens doors to empowering society ideologically toward living more sustainable and ethically ahead, with future generations of ecological health and human well-being Synergistics. Of all the forces that have worked and are still working to mold the destinies of humans, none, certainly, is more potent than the manifestation of which we call religion. Generally, in life, we give importance only to those things that fulfill our daily needs. In this aspect, we take food, clothes, and dwelling as essential aspects of life, from which we accomplish our physical needs. But according to Swami Vivekananda, in this life, we are not bound to this physical necessity. There are higher desires than this and continuous motivation to these higher desires leads to the ‘necessity of religion’. Now the question is that what role does religion play in our lives? Religion played a major role in Vivekananda’s ideas. To Vivekananda religion was not only talk or doctrine or theory but the realization of the best and strongest powers within oneself. He said – “it is being and becoming, not hearing or acknowledging; it is the whole soul becoming changed into what it believes.” Vivekananda believes that the essence of man lies in his soul, which he possesses in addition to his body and mind. While Swamiji defines education as ‘the manifestation of the perfection already in man.’ The aim of education is to manifest in our lives perfection, which is the very nature of our inner self.
