I am a translation theorist, philosopher and teacher. I write on: Ethics, Political Philosophy, the Philosophy of Thought, Philosophy of Language, Translation Theory, Philosophy of Religion and Asian Philosophy---especially Indian Philosophy. A theme of my research is the connection between abstract models of thought and understanding, and outcomes of imperialism, nationalism, anthropocentrism and other moral and political phenomena of xenophobia and an intolerance to diversity. I am interested in how formal reason helps us avoid many of these political problems. This connects with my interest in Yoga, the philosophical school.

For strange historical reasons, I'm an analytic philosopher (via my PhD)
whose majority publications (to date) have been on South Asian philosophy.
I am author of two peer reviewed monographs, two edited volumes, a translation and commentary of an ancient text of moral theory from Sanskrit, and several papers spanning my areas of research.
