I investigate why human beings, despite their allegedly very high levels of analytic intelligence, remain unable to increase their capacity to care for themselves, one another, and nature. Furthermore, I investigate why, despite recognizing that their capacity for care does not correspond to their analytic intelligence, they remain unable to increase it (remain unable to increase their sense of empathy toward themselves, one another, and the natural world).
