I suppose that one could say that I am not your typical visitor to this site.I have been away from Philosophy at the professional level for many years now. I was an instructor at Brooklyn College in N.Y. in the late 60's and early 70's, while attending graduate school at CUNY. Financial difficulties and family problems eventually led to my having to drop out of the program. I didn't pick up a Philosophy book for nearly 30 years. When I moved from Long Island to Highland Mills, N.Y. I brought all my books with me-about 200 or so. Well, I started reading them again. The passion I once had suddenly returned. This was in October of 2000. I proceeded to attempt to "catch up"-STILL TRYING! I expect to take this effort to my grave. I also started doing research on the internet. That's about it. I worked with some fine people back then- Paul Edwards,Martin Lean, Arnold Koslow(my doctorate thesis advisor), just to name a few. I study Philosophy because I love it! I know I'll never teach again. Nor will I ever complete my degree. But the hours I spend each day reading and thinking are hours well spent. I live in upstate New York in a small town called Slate Hill with my wife of 43 years-I don't know how she did it. My daughter ,her husband and 3 of my 5 grandchildren live nextdoor. It's beautiful here-a great place to learn!
