Materialism from Hobbes to Locke (OUP, 2022) looks at a significant part of the philosophical debate about materialism in seventeenth-century Europe. It tells a story that starts with Thomas Hobbes, goes through the work of three of his critics—Henry More, Ralph Cudworth, and Margaret Cavendish—and ends with the discussion of materialism in John Locke’s Essay concerning Human Understanding.
