About me

I have wide-ranging interests in philosophy but my research thus far has focused on problems at the intersection of ethical theory and metaphysics. These problems concern the nature of well-being and its distribution across populations, the significance of personal identity, and the structure of the good. Within practical ethics I am especially interested in the ethics of charitable giving.

I am a Lecturer in Philosophy and Director of the Centre for Ethics, Philosophy and Public Affairs at the University of St Andrews.

I was previously a Plumer Junior Research Fellow in Philosophy at St Anne's College, University of Oxford.
