I focus on what it takes—and what reality must be like—for us to think and act responsibly, be responsible for how we think and act, and have the capacity for responsible agency (the ability to respond appropriately to values and reasons). Most of my research focuses on (a) the mental, experiential, and epistemic preconditions for these forms of responsibility when related to morality and blame, and (b) what follows for religious thought and practice, social and political life, and specific domains of social life—especially, healthcare practice.
