What is particularly important for teachers is the need to balance new advances in the field with a vision for teaching children with a wide variety of experiences, identities, languages, and needs, necessitating a culturally responsive approach to teaching the whole child as a human being. Rapid advances in generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) accelerated the need for clear guidance about integrating this technology through a culturally responsive approach to teaching and learning. This paper critically examines the existing guidance for teachers regarding using AI to plan and enact culturally responsive lesson plans. Written by a multidisciplinary team of authors, the paper will evaluate the advice offered by professional organisations for the various disciplines (e.g., mathematics, science, literacy, etc.), highlight their strengths and shortcomings, and make recommendations as to how they can be improved to meet the needs of today’s classrooms.
