I studied mathematics, then history of science, and have spent my career in mathematics departments, more like a cannibal among missionaries than the reverse. My interests in the history and philosophy of mathematics are very broad and rather unfocused, but revolve around values and how they are acquired and transmitted. To this end I am currently looking at integration theories in the 20th century and the role of publication in mathematical careers circa 1800 in Europe. I have ongoing interests in the application of mathematical analysis to physics in particular.
