My undergraduate education at Sussex University was under Brian Goodwin (Mathematics of complex adaptive systems), John Maynard-Smith (evolution theory), Gerry Webster (biology of forms) and Jimmy Sang (developmental genetics). My project involved the gene sequencing of the colicin E2 plasmid.

My Masters degree centred on the philosophy of science (Paul Feyerabend was the visiting professor at the time) and the history of science. My dissertation looked at how the ideas of Max Weber were being utilised to explain under-development in the 'Third World'.
I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (England and Wales) in 1984 and a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1985.
In 2004 I completed a certificate in Mathematics with the Open University focusing on Group Theory and Mathematical Models.
In 2017 I completed a Masters in Philosophy at the University of Liverpool, centering on philosophy of language, aesthetics and mind. My dissertation was on the notion of representation as it relates, if it does, to aesthetic experience.
I am now embarked on a PhD at Liverpool University. I am interested in the relationship between words and images.
