This article explores the anthropological views of Sofia Vanni Rovighi (1908–1990), an Italian philosopher who identified herself as a Thomist while advocating a broadening out of this classical approach through the incorporation of phenomenological elements. The text outlines her conception of the human being, distinguishing between phenomenological and metaphysical levels. A key focus here is her critique of naturalism—which, she argued, is unjustly reductive in its approach to human beings. This polemical reflection situates her views within a broader context, addressing in particular the call for a re-empiricization of Thomistic anthropology.

Celem podjęcia badań, przedstawionych w artykule, jest próba częściowego wypełnienia luki w polskiej literaturze filozoficznej, w której znajdują się znikome odwołania do ważnego włoskiego filozofa Enza Paciego (1911-1976). Był on jedną z kluczowych postacifenomenologii włoskiej, zarówno fazy pierwszych interpretacji myśli Edmunda Husserla, jak i ponownego zainteresowania jego poglądami w czasie tzw. drugiej fali fenomenologii włoskiej od lat 60. XX wieku. Paci formułuje propozycję relacjonizmu – filozofię czasu i relacji, która to filozofia koncentruje się na relacjach i otwarciu podmiotu na relacje. Na początku tekstu omówiony jest kontekst historyczno-filozoficzny twórczości Paciego. Zasadnicza część artykułu traktuje o koncepcji relacjonizmu i jej założeniach. In this publication, readers with only a somewhat limited philosophical background will encounter a wonderful and clear introduction to the metaphysics of Aristotle and St. Thomas, while supporters of personalism will become familiar with Burgos’s interesting and original proposal (which is nevertheless deeply rooted in the tradition associated with this current of thought). At the same time, critically minded readers will be able to familiarize themselves with the author’s lucidly presented arguments and reflect on their strength and plausibility. To sum up, it can be said that this is a book worth recommending to a wide audience.

This volume of the _Ignatianum Philosophical Yearbook _is dedicated to the issue of transhumanism. The texts in this issue focus predominantly on various bioethical issues discussed by transhumanists. Bioethical reflection around transhumanism is present primarily in the Englishlanguage literature, with the bulk of the debates taking place with the participation of prominent schoolars from the Anglo-American area. Increasingly, the issue is also visible in the German-speaking area. In Poland, on the other hand, it is only just entering the sphere of interest of bioethicists from various scientific and research backgrounds. Recent years have abounded in publications addressing various issues related to transhumanism.

Niniejszy tom _Roczników Filozoficznych Ignatianum _jest poświęcony problematyce transhumanizmu. W sposób szczególny zawarte w tym numerze teksty koncentrują się na szeroko rozumianych kwestiach bioetycznych, które są przedmiotem dyskusji transhumanistów. Refleksja bioetyczna wokół transhumanizmu jest obecna przede wszystkim w anglojęzycznej literaturze przedmiotu, a gros debat dokonuje się przy udziale prominentnych badaczy z obszaru angloamerykańskiego. Coraz mocniej problematyka ta jest widoczna także w obszarze języka niemieckiego. Natomiast w Polsce dopiero wchodzi ona w sferę zainteresowań bioetyków wywodzących się z rożnych środowisk naukowych i badawczych. Ostatnie lata obfitowały w publikacje, w których podejmowano rozmaite zagadnienia związane z transhumanizmem.

This article presents the views of Paolo Valori (1919–2003), a little known philosopher and Italian Jesuit who was one of the first scholars in Italy to deal with Husserl’s thought. Valori belonged to the so-called “second wave” of Italian phenomenology. His critical analysis of Maurice Blondel’s views, and his reflections on contemporary philosophy, led him to the conclusion that a dialogue between Christian philosophy and contemporary thought is called for. One aspect of this dialogue may be the opening up of Christian philosophy to the search for truth in the human sciences, and to various tendencies in philosophy and theology. Such an opening can be called “the search for truth everywhere.” The article presents the sources of Valori’s views and his understanding of interdisciplinary dialogue. This analysis is supplemented by a presentation of his concept of truth, and the text ends with an example of the practical application of this approach within his conception of phenomenological ethics.
