Valentina Gonzalez-Morales

Valentina González-Morales is a Colombian philosopher whose research focuses on biocultural ethics and the rights of nature, with an emphasis on the intersection between ecological justice and socio-environmental justice. In 2022, she obtained her PhD in Philosophy from the prestigious environmental philosophy program at the University of North Texas, United States, and subsequently joined the Philosophy Department at the University of Cartagena, Colombia, where she serves as an assistant professor. González-Morales' academic work builds bridges between philosophical traditions, articulating both Western and indigenous worldviews to propose situated, intercultural, and systemic frameworks that allow for an understanding of the relationships between humans and more-than-humans. She also has years of teaching experience at the secondary and higher education levels, and maintains a firm commitment to research linked with communities, especially in dialogue with Afro-Colombian and indigenous communities affected by environmental deterioration and systemic violence.
