I arrived to the US in 1992 as a Fulbright scholar working with Arthur Danto at Columbia University on the project Nonpropositional knowledge and concept formation. Due to the war in Croatia at the time and political disagreements with the nationalists who ethnically cleansed Zadar philosophy department, I stayed as an immigrant in the United States. I taught as an adjunct and a substitute professor at Brooklyn College from 1997 to 2004. I received a full-time teaching position at Bergen Community College in New Jersey in 2004 from where I retired as a full professor in 2024. I translated into Croatian Arthur Danto’s Transfiguration of the Commonplace, Nelson Goodman’s The Languages of Art, and W.O. Quine’s Word and Object. My areas of research are aesthetics, ethics and cultural theory. I presented papers at philosophical conferences in the US, Canada and Croatia and am currently working on the book on the philosophy of architecture.
