Vanessa Seifert

I am the PI of the project PExAI (greek for 'play' but acronym of "Predicting and Explaining with AI"!) and a former Marie Curie fellow. Im based at the University of Athens and Im also a visiting fellow at the University of Bristol. My research initially revolved around chemistry's relation to quantum physics and has now extended to wider issues including sc. realism, metaphysics of chemistry (i.e. laws, causation and natural kinds), and- more recently- the philosophy of AI. My general approach is to investigate standard issues in the philosophy of science from the perspective of chemistry. Im also engaged in public writing: I've co-created Jargonium.com and Im the writer of the 'Thought Experiments' column in Chemistry World magazine.

My background is in Chemical Engineering (National Technical University of Athens). I hold an MSc in Philosophy of Science (LSE) and completed my PhD at the University of Bristol under the supervision of James Ladyman.
