I am deeply interested in our capacity to take on different perspectives--perspectives that are sometimes (but not necessarily) positioned relative to other subjectivities. I see empathy as a process--an outcome of perspective-taking that may or may not involve recognisable emotions. (Perhaps, more often than we realise, we have adjusted our response before the emotional engagement of feeling we typically identify as empathy has called attention to itself.) In short, I am curious about how feeling and perspective reflect and/or determine our engagements with the world and each other.
