As an adolescent with strong philosophical interests but huge doubts about the ability of philosophy to ever answer any questions, I resolved to become a psychologist on the assumption this would constantly bump me up against - and prevent me from ever forgetting the big questions. The child did make the man. My perspective is greatly influenced by evolutionary theory - I taught a graduate course in neuropsychology from an evolutionary perspective for nearly 20 years.
