I am Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and a member of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, University of Pittsburgh. I was also formerly associate director of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition when I was faculty at CMU.

I work on various issues in mind and cognitive science including attention, agency, memory, introspection, consciousness, perception and other topics.

I have published two books, Movements of the Mind (OUP, 2023) on mental action and Attention (Routledge, 2014 1st ed; 2nd ed 2025).
