    with Jiajv Chen
Philosophy, Ethics, and Humanities in Medicine 20 (1): 1-18. 2025.
Genetic data, which contains human life codes, is the most fundamental privacy of individuals and is therefore protected by the right to privacy. However, given the diverse subjects involved in genetic data, traditional individualistic privacy regulations face challenges in practise, posing a global dilemma on effective gene privacy protection. Over the past three decades, China has seen rapid development in the concepts of privacy and gene privacy. Genetic data is inherently classified as priva…Read more

with Yiqi Gao, Tao Xue, Biliang Chen, and Hong Yang
    Developing World Bioethics 23 (1): 34-40. 2022.
The recent advances in assisted reproductive technology, such as hormonal stimulation, IVF, and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), have made it possible to circumvent many causes of male and female factor infertility. However, uterine infertility is still considered an ‘‘unconditionally infertile’’ condition. Owing to the continued advances in organ transplantation, microvascular anastomosis techniques, and immunosuppressive medicine, the transplantation of organs is no longer restricted t…Read more

This paper examines the efficacy of three pedagogical approaches for teaching English-Chinese translation strategies, specifically applied to religious texts for intermediate-level EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners. The participants were randomly divided into three groups, each trained with a distinct methodological framework: Explicit-Method-Chain (EMC), Explicit-Task Method Chain (ETMC), or Implicit Task Method Chain (ITMC). Utilizing a mixed methods approach, this study gathered qu…Read more

Don't let perfect be the enemy of better: In defense of unparameterized megastudies
    with Joshua K. Hartshorne
Behavioral and Brain Sciences 47. 2024.
The target article argues researchers should be more ambitious, designing studies that systematically and comprehensively explore the space of possible experiments in one fell swoop. We argue that while “systematic” is rarely achievable, “comprehensive” is often enough. Critically, the recent popularization of massive online experiments shows that comprehensive studies are achievable for most cognitive and behavioral research questions.

Analyzing the composition of the editorial boards in high-impact medical ethics journals: a survey study
with Xiyan Zhao, Tianlin Wen, Xingxuan Li, Donghua Liu, and Zhiwei Jia
    BMC Medical Ethics 25 (1): 1-8. 2024.
BackgroundThe underrepresentation of scholarly works from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in academic literature is a documented concern, attributed partly to editorial biases. This trend, prevalent across various disciplines, has been less explored in the context of medical ethics journals. This study aimed to examine the composition of editorial board members (EBM) in high-impact medical ethics journals and to evaluate the extent of international diversity within these editorial teams…Read more

Firm performance, corporate ownership, and corporate social responsibility disclosure in China
Business Ethics, the Environment and Responsibility 22 (2): 159-173. 2013.
The existing literature provides conflicting results on the association between firm performance and corporate social responsibility disclosure. This paper empirically examines the effect of firm performance on CSR disclosure in terms of disclosure frequency and quality among Chinese listed firms and the possible mediating effect of corporate ownership on the relationship between firm performance and CSR disclosure. Our findings show that better‐performing firms are more likely than worse‐perfor…Read more

Large numbers of observational studies focused on the prevalence of psychological problems during the COVID-19 pandemic were published. It is essential to conduct a meta-analysis of the prevalence of different psychological statuses to insight the psychological reactions of general population during the COVID-19 epidemic in China. Sixty six observational studies about the psychological…Read more

Mathematical logic is a branch of mathematics that takes axiom systems and mathematical proofs as its objects of study. This book shows how it can also provide a foundation for the development of information science and technology. The first five chapters systematically present the core topics of classical mathematical logic, including the syntax and models of first-order languages, formal inference systems, computability and representability, and Gödel’s theorems. The last five chapters present…Read more

Allocation of Credit Resources and “Borrow to Lend” Activities: Evidence From Chinese-Listed Companies
with Shangmei Zhao and Huibo Wang
    Frontiers in Psychology 13. 2022.
Credit distribution is uneven in the domestic financial market since it is relatively easy for listed companies, mainly state-owned enterprises, to obtain banks’ funds. Unbalanced credit distribution has caused some listed companies to participate in “Borrow to Lend” activities. Based on the traditional “financing priority” theory and credit rationing theory, this paper studies the “Borrow to Lend” shadow banking activities of China’s non-financial listed companies based on the 2007–2018 financi…Read more
